Firearms Training Facility

Beginning September 26, 2017, Allan Hancock College will resume firearms training in the Law Enforcement Academy at the Lompoc Valley Center Public Safety Training Complex.

This resumption of activity follows extensive remodeling and retrofits with a 95 percent sound absorption. Training will occur approximately once or twice a week at both day and nighttime hours.

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) requires that all Basic Course Academy recruits demonstrate shooting competencies during both daylight and nighttime hours.

It is our hope that we can accomplish this requirement while also ensuring minimal noise impact for our neighbors.  We will be monitoring sound decibels at various locations off campus.

The Lompoc Valley Center’s state-of-the-art facility serves as a premier training location for law enforcement recruits to acquire basic skills, as well as tactical and emergency response qualifications in a realistic environment.  The campus also serves fire, EMS and environmental health and safety students and the needs of local, regional and state public agencies.

We plan to have regular communication with you on this resumption of activity. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please contact Hancock’s Public Affairs office at 805 922-6966 ext. 3764.

"The most valuable thing I've learned in Law Enforcement is going to be integrity. You find yourself, you take responsibility for your mistakes you learn from them, you gain knowledge from them, and you become a better person. My whole mindset is different now, I go out there and I walk a little different. Allan Hancock has made a difference in my life. I know I'm accomplishing something that I can feel good about."
