Recreation Management

Program Overview

Recreation Management

The Recreation Management program at Allan Hancock College is designed to prepare you for mid-level positions in the field of recreation immediately after graduation. If you are already employed in the recreation and tourism industry, a degree in recreation management can provide you with educational requirements often needed for advancement to more responsible and higher paying positions. Our curriculum also meets the general requirements needed to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a baccalaureate degree in recreation, hospitality or tourism management.

Graduates of the Recreation Management program will:

  • Apply recreational programming skill sets for public, private, nonprofit, therapeutic and commercial settings
  • Use learned leadership skills in a team building environment
  • Apply and practice the skills for organizing event planning for community events
  • Apply the principles and theories of sports management for municipal, commercial and nonprofit agencies

"I've enjoyed the wine courses here at Hancock. I have gained a better understanding and knowledge of the industry, specifically in the enology program. I hope to transfer to Cal Poly to major in ag business. The effort and partnership between our professors, the industry, and the universities make Hancock the perfect pathway for the full-time student or individual who wants to be part of the wine industry."
